Why Are Veterinary Services So Expensive?
The care given to any animal is determined by its owner. Every owner has a different idea of what counts as acceptable care for their pet. Veterinary surgeons can only inform their clients about the medical options available.
On the other hand, the prices of the medicines, consumables and equipment needed to treat animals are the same as those used for humans. The average lifespan of your pet is around 11 years — over that period the animal is susceptible to all the illnesses typical of early life, adulthood and old age.
Prices are set independently by each veterinary practice, based on the quality of the service, the materials used, anaesthetics, antibiotics, treatment methods, specialists and medical techniques.
Before getting a pet, it is wise to consider whether you will be able to provide the care it will need.
