Why Don't Vets Give Advice Over the Phone?
It is not possible to make an accurate diagnosis or draw up a suitable treatment plan for an animal that has not been examined by a veterinary surgeon. Doing so is unprofessional and unlawful.
A vet cannot make a diagnosis based on the symptoms observed by the owner. Outward signs are often only an indicator of a large number of internal conditions, each of which is treated in a different way.
To determine the exact cause of the symptoms and prescribe the best course of treatment, the following are required:
-
A full clinical examination
-
An assessment of vital signs
-
Additional diagnostic tests (blood tests, X-rays, ultrasound)
-
Direct observation of the animal
Even when the symptoms seem obvious, a correct diagnosis requires a specialist examination. Don’t risk your pet’s health on unverified advice — book an appointment with your vet.
