Supervisory authorities and professional body

Veterinary establishments and the vets working in them are entered in the register of the regional food safety directorate (областна дирекция по безопасност на храните). Their activities are supervised by the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (Българска агенция по безопасност на храните, BFSA), www.bfsa.bg.

By law, vets who practise the profession are members of the Bulgarian Veterinary Union (Български ветеринарен съюз, BVU) – Article 2(1) of the Professional Organisation of Veterinarians in Bulgaria Act (Закон за съсловната организация на ветеринарните лекари в България). The professional title of our vets is „ветеринарен лекар“ (veterinary doctor). All of them obtained it in the Republic of Bulgaria.

The rules of the profession are set out in the Veterinary Activities Act (Закон за ветеринарномедицинската дейност), in the Professional Organisation of Veterinarians in Bulgaria Act and in the Code of Good Veterinary Practice and Professional Ethics of the Veterinarian (Кодекс за добра ветеринарномедицинска практика и професионална етика на ветеринарния лекар) adopted by the BVU. The acts are published in the State Gazette („Държавен вестник“) and you can read them free of charge in legal information systems, for example at lex.bg. If you ask, we will tell you where you can read the code.

Consumer rights are protected by the Commission for Consumer Protection (Комисия за защита на потребителите, CPC), www.kzp.bg. The supervisory authority for personal data is the Commission for Personal Data Protection (Комисия за защита на личните данни, CPDP), www.cpdp.bg.

What the site offers

The site is for information only. It has no user registration, no contact or appointment forms and no online payments. No contracts are concluded through the site.

On the site we publish:

  • information about the clinics, the team and the services;
  • a veterinary encyclopedia – articles with general information about animal health and care;
  • frequently asked questions and answers;
  • reviews from the Google profile of the Sofia clinic;
  • information about our partners;
  • a “For colleagues” page for vets who refer patients to us.

Send questions about patient referrals to office@bluecrossbg.com.

The site is available in Bulgarian and English. If the two texts differ, the Bulgarian text prevails, unless the English text is more favourable to you as a consumer.

Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or to the systems on which it is hosted, and do not interfere with its operation.

Booking an appointment and prices

Appointments are booked by phone only. The “Book appointment” button only shows the phone numbers of the two clinics.

We do not publish prices on the site because they depend on the species, size and age of the animal, the scope of the examination and the tests required. You can get an approximate price by phone and the exact price at the clinic. If we publish prices on the site, they will be final prices in euro, including VAT, and will match the prices at the clinic.

Medical information on the site

The articles in the encyclopedia contain general information. Each of them is written or reviewed by one of our vets. Each article shows its author or reviewer and the date of its last revision. The answers to the frequently asked questions also contain general information.

This information does not replace an examination, diagnosis or treatment by a vet. Only a vet who has examined the animal can judge what that particular animal needs. Do not start any treatment or give any medicines, including medicines for humans, on the basis of text from the site alone.

Reading the site does not create a relationship between you and any of our vets. Such a relationship arises when the animal is examined.

Veterinary medicine evolves, and over time some of the information may become out of date. So please check the date of the article’s last revision.

The audio version of the articles (“Listen”) is read by a synthesised voice, not by a vet.

In an emergency

If your animal is in danger, do not look for answers on the site. Call the Sofia clinic immediately on 0898 361 903. The clinic is open every day from 8:00 to 22:00. No new patients are admitted after 22:00. During the Blagoevgrad clinic’s opening hours – Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 to 19:00 – you can also call 0899 711 722.

Hospitalised patients at the Sofia clinic are monitored day and night. However, we do not answer the phone after 22:00. If the emergency occurs after that time, contact the nearest 24-hour veterinary clinic. If people are in danger, call 112.

Reviews

The reviews on the site are verbatim quotes from the Google profile of the Sofia clinic. We show only 5-star reviews. They are a small proportion of all the reviews in the profile. We show them with the name and profile picture under which their authors published them. Before we show a review on the site, we check whether its author has been a client of the clinic.

The overall rating and the number of reviews that we show take into account all reviews on Google – both positive and negative – as at the date on which we retrieved them. They are not updated automatically. You can see the current rating and all reviews, including lower-rated ones, in the clinic’s Google profile.

Authors publish their reviews on Google under the platform’s rules. If you are the author of a review and do not want the review, your name or your profile picture to be shown on the site, write to info@bluecrossbg.com. We will remove them. Please also write to us if you believe that a review shown on the site contains offensive statements or someone else’s personal data. We will look into the review and, if there are grounds to do so, remove it from the site.

Copyright

The texts, photographs, logo and graphic design of the site are owned by SIN KRUST OOD or are used with the permission of the rights holders. They are protected under the Copyright and Related Rights Act (Закон за авторското право и сродните му права).

You may share links to pages of the site. You may quote short extracts from the articles if you cite the source with a link to the relevant page. Our prior written permission is required for any other copying, reproduction, distribution or modification of the content, and for any commercial use. Send requests for permission to info@bluecrossbg.com.

The texts of the reviews belong to their authors, and the names and logos of partners and external platforms belong to their respective owners.

External links and services

The site contains links to external services. These are governed by the terms and policies of the relevant provider, not by these terms.

  • Google Maps – the map loads only after you press “Open the map”. Google may then set its own cookies.
  • The Google profile of the Sofia clinic, with all reviews.
  • Our profiles on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.
  • The article share buttons (Facebook, Viber, Telegram, email). They open the relevant service, and you share the link under that service’s rules.
  • The pacs.bluecrossbg.com portal for viewing diagnostic imaging results. We maintain it together with an external company. It is a separate system with its own access and is not part of the site. Its own terms apply when you use it.

Liability

We do our best to keep the information on the site accurate and up to date. However, opening hours, phone numbers and services may change. We therefore recommend that you call before visiting.

We do not guarantee that the site will operate without interruption. Access to it may be temporarily suspended for maintenance or for technical reasons beyond our control.

We are not liable for any damage resulting from decisions made solely on the basis of the general information on the site without an examination by a vet. Nor are we liable for the content or operation of external services provided by third parties. This does not affect our liability for tests carried out at the clinics, including where the results are available in the pacs.bluecrossbg.com portal.

These limitations do not affect any liability that cannot be excluded by law, including in cases of intent or gross negligence. Nor do they affect your rights as a consumer.

Personal data and cookies

You do not need to give us any personal data to read the site. However, on every visit the hosting provider SuperHosting.BG OOD („СуперХостинг.БГ“ ООД) records technical data in server logs: IP address, date and time, the page requested and the browser. This data is kept for security and troubleshooting purposes.

The Privacy policy describes how we process this data, data from phone calls and clinic visits, data of the authors of the reviews shown, data in referrals from colleagues, and the site statistics. The Cookie policy describes what is stored on your device.

The site does not set any cookies of its own. Google Analytics loads only if you press “Accept” in the cookie bar. Without your consent, the only things saved in your browser are your cookie choice (for 12 months) and whether you have hidden the “Contents” panel in the articles.

You can change your choice or withdraw your consent at any time using the “Cookies” button at the bottom of every page. Once you decline, Google Analytics does not load on the pages you open.

You give consent to cookies only by pressing the “Accept” button. These terms do not constitute consent to the processing of personal data or to receiving advertising messages.

Complaints and disputes

You can make a complaint about our service at the clinic or by email: for the Sofia clinic to info@bluecrossbg.com, and for the Blagoevgrad clinic to blagoevgrad@bluecrossbg.com. We will consider your complaint and reply to you within 14 days of receiving it.

These terms are governed by Bulgarian law. We will first try to resolve any dispute with you through discussion and agreement. This is not a mandatory step before you go to court or to an out-of-court dispute resolution body. If we do not reach agreement, the dispute will be decided by the competent Bulgarian court. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection given to you by the mandatory provisions of the law, including those on jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer, you can contact the CPC. You can also request out-of-court resolution of the dispute by the General Conciliation Commission at the CPC based in Sofia (Обща помирителна комисия към КЗП със седалище в София): 1 Vrabcha St., 3rd, 4th and 5th floors, 1000 Sofia, tel. 02 933 05 17, adr.sofia@kzp.bg.

Reports concerning the veterinary activities of the clinics can be submitted to the BFSA, and complaints about the processing of personal data to the CPDP: 2 Prof. Tsvetan Lazarov Blvd., 1592 Sofia, kzld@cpdp.bg.

Changes to these terms

We may amend these terms if there are changes in the law, in the site or in the way we work. We publish each new version on this page together with the date from which it is in force. In the event of significant changes, we will also post a notice on the site.
